The quality exceeded my expectations; you can definitely tell the boards are thicker than standard furniture because the whole unit is very sturdy. I currently have a massive TV, stacks of heavy vinyl records, and books inside, and it handles the weight effortlessly. Plus, the slatted doors let the remote signals pass right through.
